To all Trainees, Programme Directors, Postgraduate Deans, and SAC members:

Re: Retrospective approval of out-of-programme experience or previous training/research

Following our recent correspondence regarding the arrangements for the end of retrospective approval of OOPE and research posts, PMETB have published clarification at the below link allowing transitional arrangements to continue through to 31st July 2007.

http://www.pmetb.org.uk/fileadmin/user/QA/Post_and_programme_approval/Letter_on_transitional_approval_-_16_April_07.doc

This means that PMETB will accept College approvals of previous overseas and research posts finished before the start of run-through training as well as completed OOPEs that did not have prospective approval.  In order to process the influx of applications by the deadline, we ask that all of the necessary documentation is submitted to us  by the 31st May 2007.

Evidence required for the various types of applications is at http://www.jchst.org/trainee_info/traineeinfoinprog_html/

Please note that for posts where there was no prospective approval given by the SAC (i.e. posts or research undertaken prior to the SpR grade), the evidence required for both ‘prospective’ and ‘retrospective’ approval must be submitted as part of an application.

Sincerely,

Jessica Lichtenstein
